Day 20
January 20, 2021
Hope and Unity
At 3:22, 34 degrees, partly cloudy, partly sunny on the rookery. The air feels so clean. It's cold but I am taking a deep breath.
The message of the day was a call for unity and an acknowledgement that unity is necessary for hope to grow. Today was the inauguration of Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Kamala Harris to the presidency and vice presidency of the United States of America. The stage was more inclusive than it has ever been and not only with skin color, with ASL and ESOL, and age, wisdom and energy and purple and yellow. Lady Gaga's voice and the sense that she belonged up there with those former presidents There is certainly a lot to think about and much more to uncover. And I am so appreciative of Amanda Gorman.
I found no pileated today. I saw two red tailed, 1 hooded merganser, many mallard, many geese and a small flock of bluebirds, again right near this tree. I tried to capture them, but no go.
