Day 21
January 21, 2021
In a gentle snow
How to identify hawks? Looking at their beaks, their tails and coloring on their chests. Telling the difference between the red tailed and the broad shouldered is difficult. I believe this is a red tailed. I want to make a chart for just hawks of Massachusetts.
Snow, just enough to sprinkle on everything. White fluffy flakes fallen on January's bleak light. It's cold, but the world does feel a little lighter, a little brighter in that grey brown wintry way.
This is just before the top of this ridge. It was 30 degrees today at 330. It is smack in the middle of winter. Do you remember smack in the middle of summer? The herons were beginning to fledge.
I tried to follow him down S. Shelburne Rd.
