Day 27

After the storm

It was nice to be snowed in for a little bit tthis morning.  Everything looked so pretty and I could stay in bed and read and stare at the branches outside my window.  My day started slowly and I actually got some practical stuff done, taking some of the tension out of my back.  

I collected all my quarters and dimes and ordered Chinese lunch for the first time in I don't know how long.  I took my hot and sour soup and General Tso's chicken to the parking lot at GCC and looked for big birds.  Saw one red tailed far away.  But it was such a nostalgic lunch, I have so many sweet memories surrounding China Gourmet.  And I had a lot of mushrooms in my soup and it made me do the happy dance.  EJ wasn't there to tell me to stop.  Very fun.  I can't believe how long it has been now that Paul C. has been gone and that treating the restaurant as though it were my living room is such a thing of the past.  

Today's ride was a little different, it was between 2 and 4 so the light was not as high, but the world was beautiful covered in 4 inches of snow.  

There were not many birds out anywhere.  But this cat was enjoying the little guys.

It was just 32 degrees out and still.  My wanderings are a lot like meditation.  They take me out of myself, away from the worries and attending to the natural world in all of its glory.  January is almost over and February will come and be crazy wintry.  As long as I get some fuel assistance it will be good for me to have another month to pull some lose ends together and maybe get the heron show completed.  I will hang it for May 1st.  Today's pictures are so very different than those pictures.  

I didn't think we'd get much of a sunset and then bang, but it's hard to shoot it from my yard.  I like these though, and I love the icicle with the sunset in the back.  These are my Mother's colors.  Makes me miss her.     

It was a good day.  I was kind to myself.
