Day 30

Feeling Extraordinarily Blessed and Grateful Today

I got out today because of the generosity of my good friends.   I really needed to.  By the time I got out it was almost 20 degrees, which is a lot nicer than the 0 when I first woke up.  We have one more night of single digits.

I wish I had binoculars today because I know in these piles of birds there were some interesting ducks that I couldn't identify, but they were further away.  These guys were at the edge between ice floes.

There were 21 swans in the canal.  There were more in the Cove, but the canal had a ballet of swan.  They were fun to watch, that neck can do expressive dance.

The snow person has not melted very much in 3 days.  It doesn't look like its playing solitaire from this angle, it looks like its contemplating the birds and ice; kinda like I do.

There were a lot of these lines in the ice.  People were walking in the middle of the Cove, but these didn't look human made.

I took 24 pictures of this eagle, I actually got some with the 500mm.  He hung out for awhile in a tree over the bridge.  It was cold, how do those feathers keep those birds warm enough?  I'm impressed.

The whole ride made me relax for the first time in 3 days.  The ritual is important to my COVID existence.  It gets me out of myself in a safe way, removing me from the strains of my life.  I leave the worries and go find big birds.  Today, not only did I see all of those water birds and this guy, but 3 harrier and another large hawk, not sure what it was.  The ride was a success.

Thank you friends and family for helping me have this blessed life.   You are all wonderful.
