Day 57

Common Merganser are home

I was hoping I would get an interview back today, but I think it was a very busy week.  I'm going to try to collect 3 or 4 over the weekend and have them to post.  If you identify as "they" and would like to answer a few questions, comment on the blog so we can connect.

Meanwhile, today I took my ride later with Amie.  It has been a while since we've gone out together to shoot, but there was going to be a good moon and a sunset around the same time.  So we masked up and I picked her up and off we went.
First we went to the canal and the Common Mergansers were back.  I don't know how many we saw, but maybe 20 in all.  They are really fun to watch, they seem like really happy birds.  And then we went over to Unity Park.

Luckily eagle eye Amie caught the moon as it peeked over the hill on the other side of the river.  It was like you could see it rising.  A group of cars pulled into the parking lot while we were there and the moon had an audience and the audience was pleased they had the moon.  I really felt a real sense of gratitude.

Looked like it was going to cloud over, and the sunset hadn't really started yet, so we got in the car and went across to the other side.

There we go, the pink was beginning and we had this sense there were fingers coming up out of the earth.  Amie thought they looked like a Mayan icon of a sun.

The rays began to turn psychodelic pink.  We left Gill and started back to Greenfield and the colors just got stronger and stronger.  We went down to the pool

and we were given a remarkable show.  It was stunning.  Two shows in one night, how blessed can we be?

Across from those colors the moon was slipping behind clouds.
By the time I got home it was dark out and the moon was just a glow, but I could see my friend Frazer's lights through the backyard burning bright and welcoming.  Another time in history I would have gone over and knocked on the door.
