Day 63

Humor and Beauty will triumph

Anyone who knew me 50 years ago knows that you never saw me without a cigarette in one hand and a TAB in the other.  I stopped smoking from 1972 until 1975, but the TAB stayed close by.  In about 1982 I switched TAB out for Diet Coke because the caffeine and sodium levels were much less. I quit the cigarettes in 1988 and was on again off again with Diet Coke until 4 years ago when EJ asked me to give it up for their Christmas present.  I did.  Kind of a real miracle.  This could lead to a long discussion on addiction and the levels of addiction and their harm to one's body, but not tonight.

Instead it leads to a story.  I wrote about reconnecting with an old boyfriend a few weeks ago.  We had a really long and fun conversation.  One of the things we laughed about was he blames me for a deep seeded addiction to TAB, he claims that 46 years ago I got him addicted and that he's never been able to kick the habit.

Coca cola has stopped producing it so Peter searches the internet to buy TAB and keep a supply.  I laughed really hard.  This is a guy who is in good shape.  He does care about his health and was never a smoker.

Yesterday I go to the mailbox and there is this funny shaped, very heavy package with no return address.  I am completely mystified and intrigued wondering who and what.  The only message I get is "The first one's free."   hahahahha  It is a 12 pack of TAB to lure me back into the dark side.   I saw it as a photo op and potentially a quantity of paint remover.  Peter told to look on Ebay to see how much I could get for those cans.  It's amazing, up to 22 dollars per can.  I always joked that I should have bought stocks in Coke, but maybe this is as good.  Or if anyone has something large they want to remove paint from.

Didn't get out for my ride until about 3:30 today and the world was peaceful, not a whole lot going on. There were a few birds by the bridge, but nothing terribly exciting.   So I came home and went back to organizing the 10,000 prints in boxes in my living room.

I have received a coupon to make a new photo book.  They're too expensive to make to sell.  How much would you pay for a 22 page book of excellent reproductions of my nature photos?  Let me know, I really want to know.  I also have some inventory that I would like to present for sale.  And in May and June the heron project, "Words From the Rookery" will go up at The Lava Center.  I think I will make small prints of those photos.   It's getting kind of exciting.
