The male was hanging out in their tree when I came out this afternoon.

I realized that the female was in another tree.  She flew over and he immediately responded.  I kept shooting and after like 30 seconds realized it felt wrong.  So I stopped and turned my back on their intimacy.

But I got some shots and because of the angle I got pictures of their beautiful colors.  

As I was driving out they were both sitting high up in the tree again.  They're big hawks.  They sit on their eggs for around 30 days and then its around 45 days before they fledge.  There maybe young hawk around June then.  We'll see.

Today was a magnificent day for birds.  The size of the blue jays that greeted me this morning was incredible. 

Amie and I drove to Keene to do a favor for a friend.  It felt freeing.

Afterwards we grabbed some lunch in the cemetery.  It was so nice, around 55 degrees and no real wind.  I decided to go check out the birds in the rookery.

Yeah, I saw

blue jays

crows

chickadee

mockingbird

song sparrow

I think these guys have really sweet faces.  

After I did a little shopping before sunset I went back over to the cemetery.  I parked and put my bird ap on my phone out the window.  It picked up a mockingbird, sharp eared owl, pileated woodpecker,, green winged Teal and geese.  There was 2 really long lines of geese coming home.

Sunset was not very interesting, but bird songs made up for it.
