Day 79
March 20, 2021
Hello Spring
Hello Heron
After they left I jumped in the car and drove to the rookery. It was 62 degrees and lovely, sunny and clear. And there, on top of nest 5 was a heron. How wonderful is that? He's a little early, like three weeks ahead of schedule, but standing up there in all of his glory. I got out the 500 mm lens and braced it on the car door and snapped away. Yes 20 or more pics of a single heron sitting on the highest nest. Welcome home, buddy.
I watched the sunset at the river and hundreds of geese were coming home. They just kept coming and coming in v's headed for Vermont.
So my bird list for today: pigeons, sparrows, Canada geese, vultures, crows, chickadee, heron, red winged black bird, hawks, mockingbird, and ducks.
And tonight my friend Jamie's sister put together a short video tribute to her. It was sweet and helped to create some closure.
Afterwards Lydia, who was the third person in our young days, called me and we spent an hour and a half on the phone reminiscing. Those days sucked in many ways, but we did have some good times, and we had each other and its great to remember that. Yes, my heart is full. I probably took care of too many people when I was young, but I was loved back. RIP Jamie Gramkow. Let's talk soon, Lyd.
I am very happy that I was able to touch and be touched by so many that I love today. And I am very excited to have two appointments scheduled for my vaccination. HUG.
Wonderful news...all around! I'm so happy you got your appointments! And welcome back Heron!!!💜💜💜 Plus a visit! Yay!!!
