Day 102
April 12, 2021
Can you count all 9 nests?
Happy Birthday Eli Bridges

As of today these are nests 3, 4, and 5.  Yesterday 3 was 2, but a new nest was built to their left, or was being built in front of my very eyes.  3 has a female sitting in it and a male came in and out today.  Nest 2 had three adults interacting with it.  There seems to be a little competition going on.

16 adults have been observed at once and 9 active nests stand.

I didn't really take a ride today I just went to the rookery.  It was a little rainy and much cooler than its been.  It was 50 at the rookery.  And it was very active.  The herons like the overcast weather.  So in addition to another new nest, there was a lot of interchange with the birds themselves.  I had fun watching and wished I had binoculars again.

Chickadee came and said hi and the red winged bb dominated the sound waves.  And again I searched for woodpeckers who were definitely around.
There were ducks around, too.  I watched a mallard pair fly in and out of the reeds.  I saw a few goose heads popping up out of the reeds and I heard the merganser nest is situated right below Sherry's home. Both a bear and a moose have been sited this week early in the morning.  Maybe I'll try to go up at dawn when the weather clears a little.
