Day 106
April 16, 2021
Turned 68 today in the snow.
I was showered with love today. This morning was wet, snowy, cold, dreary and not a nice day for a birthday, but I decided I would go get 1 slice of cake and bring it to the rookery and eat it with my friends. It was quite nice. While I was there EJ called to wish me a Happy Birthday. So it was perfect.
Afterwards, I met Diane and we went book buying, my second favorite past time. She drove, I talked and we had a sweet time.
I had a roast beef sandwich for dinner and I read all of the messages I've received. The opportunity to receive birthday messages from people all through your life is kinda amazing. Cousins and siblings and old teachers and old students, and a close friend from 2 nd grade and 8th grade and older sister of a BFF, and yeah, it's cool, thanks for all the goodwill.
This is not the first time it has snowed on my birthday. I think it's about the 11th or 12th time. Just in the last 10 years there were 3 such incidents. Now I don't think the upper elevations got the amount that they got today. I think Marlboro got almost a foot, but down here in the valley the daffodils got pushed over and the forsythia in some places is more white than yellow. Just the difference in elevation between Greenfield and the rookery meant a several inch difference in snow fall. I feel so sorry for the birds.
Saw 2 eagle in Sunderland.
Down by the orchard it looked like a very typical April day. The trees are just blooming madly. It's so beautiful, I find it almost as gorgeous as mid October.
Well, here I go again around the sun another time. I hope within the next 2 years I am ready to travel to Tuscany to write for a month. Wish me luck on my goal.
