Day 92
April 2, 2021
Today was a different kind of ride.

first breakfast in their new home

Today's ride was much longer than my usual jaunt.  Diane and I drove out to Annandale on Hudson.  I was a little afraid of what the weather was going to be through the Berkshires and into N.Y. State, but it was alright.  The snow had stopped by the time we got that far West and the Taconic showed signs of earlier snow, but none by 3.  And then once we got west of the Berkshires there wasn't anything.  I counted 15 hawks on the drive there.

I drove home so I didn't see as many birds, but we caught sight of a few.  What we really saw were deer, lots of deer.  There was one pasture full of them, probably 20 or more getting their supper, all looking the same.  I don't think they were white tails.  I'm going to check that tomorrow.

Hudson River Valley reminds me of a combination of Connecticut and Vermont.  It is not like Massachusetts.  You actually see a change of geography when you cross the Housatonic and enter New York State. You go through lime stone quarries and the hillsides are very different.  As you approach the Hudson there are a lot of  vineyards and real mountains out there.  I did get all twisted around and kept thinking we should be driving North and not South and what were those mountains anyway.  But we made it and we did our duty and we got to see our bestest.  They are great.

The only traffic at all, and not that much considering is between Westfield and Northampton.  I was driving alone by Northampton, so my sunset pictures are a little sketchy.  When I came in Argyros and Cryses got fed and were happy.  Now I get to go to sleep.
