Day 95
April 5, 2021
forsythia and daffodils are beginning to pop

I actually got some good news today, the grant that I was involved in creating and will lead was funded.  It is called Exploring and Creating History and is funded by Massachusetts Humanities.  It aims at investigating oral histories in the community in order to learn more about the unvoiced histories.  It's exciting.  If you live around here and want to know more, go to

My ride was lovely today.  The skies were blue.  On top of the hill where the horse barns are a heron was flying high up.  Made me wonder how far they travel in their day's wanderings. At the rookery there were 7 adults sitting in nests. I think there are 10 nesting there, but I'm not sure.  The last nest, which I refer to as Nest 7, is still empty.

There were at least 50 swallows today.  At least.  I  saw the wood duck couple fly by, but other than the swallow's there was no bird activity.  The woodpeckers were around, I could hear them, and there were a few very noisy red winged bbs.

After my nap I did my 2nd ride and drove past my normal haunts, all of them looking stunning, but no real activity.  It was windy which may have cut down on the bird of prey action.  Something was swimming down by the Deerfield, and I saw a goose, but no wood ducks down there.

So beautiful though.  God, I love that blue.  And the buds in the trees are popping.  There were patches of daffodils here and there and forsythia about to burst.   I'm still in love with where I live after 40 odd years.
It's cold this evening.  I'm feeling sorry for the goldfish  I have to buy them something  to interact with tomorrow.  They need some stimulus.

And someone is coming to clean up the yard tomorrow morning. That's exciting.  I replanted one beautiful plant today and made another with cuttings.  I should give it away, and I have another plants worth of rooted cuttings for tomorrow.  Does that count as accomplishing something? I did accomplish stuff today, but it so different in this time than before and I have a hard time giving myself credit for having a productive life.  I started this with a positive statement about getting the grant.  Let me end there, too.   Yay, we got a grant funded , Thanks Jan Maher!!!!!
