Day 97
April 7,  2021
Meet Shadow, half of my dinner company

Amie and I went on a sandhill crane hunt today.  Left the phone at home and headed slowly to Ashfield.  Stopped at the Hardware Store and asked advice on where to find a sandhill crane and was lead to turkeys instead.  Actually this is the third day in a row when I almost him a turkey on the road.  The female on the road had amazing colors and she was bigger than the Tom, or maybe just closer.  The Tom's tail was in full glory.   We stopped on the corner to take photos.

These cows were at the same farm.  They were sprinkled throughout the pasture.  I thought they were very sweet looking.

And the views are a little more expansive up there.  The buds are mainly red so the view is grey, red and evergreens.
They are shooting a TV show in Buckland/Shelburne Falls.  The streets are paved with cotton.  Large flood lights on big machines, lots of food tents, police, and crowds of masked people staring lined the town.

We took the back road down to the rookery.  The ride, all 65 miles of it was truly beautiful.  I wasn't paying attention to all of the birds, and I bet I saw fewer than I normally do, but still I saw some.  In the rookery with the heron today were wood ducks, mergansers, swallows, and red winged bbs. It is alive once more.  A small miracle unto its own.

And home to my cleaned up cottage.  How sweet is this?
