Day 121
May 1, 2021
Happy May Day
The first day of Farmers Market and the opening of Saturday Salon at the Lava Center. YAY. It was a
very successful day. We had Michael Nix on guitar and banjo. We had 2 vendors plus me. We had three shows hanging on the walls.
Des is making jewelry with beads and crystals. He was showing them today to see whether he could start a little business at the Salon.
About 40 people came throughout the three hours. It was very pleasant and I think my show was liked. I sold two pieces. I just like the way it looks.
After it was over and we cleaned up I went to the rookery. We lost a few trees over the past day or so. I think there is one down over where the ducks have their nests. The Common mergansers seemed to be fine, but I didn't see any other ducks.
Violets and dandelions are all over the place at this point and green is coming up. I saw 2 muskrats and a third mammal, may have been an otter.
I saw a small hawk flying way up high. I was wondering when red tailed start flying on their own. This one looked like a miniature red tailed. I also saw a very large bird in the woods, I suspect it was a heron.
This pine was down and making the whole road smell divine. What a wonderful smell.
There were mourning dove, red winged b.b., starlings, black birds, chickadee, woodpeckers I could hear but not see, jays, cardinals and robins all around. And the sky and water were both a gorgeous blue.
And I was beat. Now I will spend 24 hours away from people. But I really was pleased with the day and the result of the show. Thank you everyone who helped and if you can come see it one of these Saturdays in May or June.
