Day 128
May 8, 2021
I think one of the nests hatched today
I love my town. Today there was someone with an owl and a hawk at Farmer's Market. I didn't get to go see it because I was facilitating a paper quilt activity during the show at Lava. But people came in excited about the birds in the market. There were also quilts being sold at the market. I wished more people had made squares, but we are leaving the table up for people to participate throughout the month.
This is our quilt thus far.
She wouldn't let us keep hers; she had to bring it home to her Mom. But she did it with her Dad and that is community.
After Farmers' Market the Bee Festival volunteers arrived to re-paint the Bee crosswalk. There was music and food and people having a good time and more reminders of what a beautiful town we live in.
Ate lunch way too late and headed up to the rookery a completely exhausted human being at 4. It was cloudy and 54 degrees. It calmed me way down and I watched the muskrats play. They are not worried about me at all. One came up and ate part of their dinner really close by.
After about a half hour I realized that nest 5 had hatched babies in it. You can't see them yet, but the adults are feeding something. Their behaviour is quite different.
The day was good, but it really represented the cycle of life. The first thing I saw this morning was an announcement that an old friend died yesterday. I had no idea he was ill, I still haven't found out what was going on. And then I received a series of videos of EJ being loved by a puppy, displaying the core of their soul. And then 3 hours of people and work stuff. I was really really tired and once again blown away at how much the rookery soothes me. Thank God, it is there.
And at the end I was visited by 2 deer. We just looked at each other for 5 minutes. So heron, goose, muskrat and deer dominated my meditation today.
