Day 130

Muskrat Heaven

Again, you get my day in reverse.  My friend bought herself a new fun car.  She picked me up and took me for an evening ride.  Very nice, classy, not too fancy and a smooth ride.

when I took these pictures on top of Poet's Seat I didn't see the airplane.  When I posted them on the computer, there it was.

Bird list for today is a little different.  To begin with there were a few sandpipers at the GCC beaver wetland.  They are very friendly birds to other birds.  They were fun to watch.

Robins, house sparrows, blue jay, pigeons, mallards, red winged blackbird, tree swallows, barn swallows, herons, red tailed hawk, crow, phoebes, Canada geese, grackle, starling, sandpiper, wood duck, and house finch.

I also saw the turtle and muskrat and this very lovely female red winged black bird who greeted me and I think was telling the turtle to stay away from her nest.

Hawks get chased away a lot and in this rookery there must be at least 30 male red winged black birds and they don't really like the red tailed at all.  The swallows will soar after them, too.  There were 2 hawk flying overhead and a heron flying across at the same time with several small birds zipping after the hawk.  They left.
