Day 138
May 18, 2021
What are some reasons to celebrate today?

Couldn't tell how many hatchlings there were today.   It was 82 degrees at 11 this morning.  The blue and green are almost summer like instead of spring.  Big birds were being chased off by little birds, it looked like Rhinebeck over the rookery, all that dive bombing going on.

I saw the osprey, a red tailed, and a vulture being chased.  And a fairly large raven was being warned by swallows.

There were a lot of wildflowers out, too.  The dirt road was lined with several different kinds.  Maybe I'll pick some and identify them tomorrow.  They really are beautiful, but so much more delicate than the garden.

Wrong time of day to see the muskrats.  Noontime seems to be a good bird of prey time.  I did see song birds, but not in swarms and I heard the bobolink again, but could not find him.  The orioles were singing and I heard the wood ducks.

The rookery is like 5 days behind my backyard.  They are only 3 miles apart, but I don't know what the difference in altitude is.

I think its going to be hot again tomorrow, and I don't want it to be too hot too soon, but I really do appreciate sitting outside with friends.  Four more days of high 80s, oh the weather is predictably unpredictable and I have to remember to water flowers because we are not getting the showers we were in the beginning of the month.  The world is greenly green.  Gorgeous.
