Day 177
June 26, 2021
Happy Birthday, Peter Whiton

The first thing I did this morning was run a workshop for children on making books.  These two wonderful kids and the grandmas were the only ones who came.  Too bad because it was fun even with only two.  We talked a tiny bit and they both told me small stories and went to create their covers and begin writing their books.  Moxie drew a giant squid.  Her story was all about Erving the squid.

I would've loved there to be 9 kids with them all making their books, but we'll get there.

We also had 2 college students making squares for the community quilt.

The second part of the Salon was my reading.  Very honored by my audience.  So glad they came.  The show comes down Wednesday night.  Two months went quickly.

No ride today, just a quick trip to the rookery.  I took a picture of a couple in a kayak paddling right next to a heron, but I haven't asked their permission to post, yet.  But there were a lot of adult herons hanging out in places other than nests.

It was 81 at 4:30, entirely overcast, humid and windy.  Storms a brewing.
My father has been gone almost as long as he lived.  He would have been 104 today.  I could feel him at the show.  I find it extremely fascinating that that show is such a document of my genetic make up.   Happy Birthday, Daddy!
