Day 175
June 24, 2021
Beginning to disperse
Downloaded the pictures backwards again. You get to see the night before the morning and then the morning through to the evening. Heaven forbid I do something that makes sense.
Today was another great bird day. The weather was stunning and the birds were up and around. And I drove a lot.
The moon was beautiful tonight, but I was driving. Glorious. I hope someone did it justice.
Went to the rookery twice today. I went up at 7;30 this evening and there wasn't any activity but it was calming.
I took the wood duck pictures early this morning. She brought 7 ducklings across the pond with at least four adult herons watching from nearby and not taking care of their own young ones. I almost held my breath the whole time. But they all made it.
Canal is growing lily pads and other plants and it is shallow on the edges/ And one lone heron, one very large male lone heron has arrived. The goslings are all teenagers and the mallard babies were pretty big. We have stated a new chapter there.
Baby goats are jumping around. They really are adorable.
Do purple, house and gold finch all get along? Or do they compete for territory?
And the single woodpecker does seem to be the friend of the feeders. Yup, it was a good day for birds.
