Day 185
July 4, 2021
Independence; a concept to reflect upon
My friend lent me her car for the day. I thought I would take Amie out for a long ride into Colrain and Leyden, but at the last moment someone invited her to go hear a live concert. She went, so I just went to the rookery where it was 67 and rainy.
These are the nests I thought fledge by tomorrow. I still think they will. Over the last week they have all just come and gone at their own will and used the 3 nests as their apartment building. They were very active today flying in and out of everywhere. Pretty fun. There were 4 adults and 5 babies in nests a week ago. today there were 9 birds in all three nests.
But it was a really good day for ducks.
There were several families out on the water. There was a family of Mergansers which was really nice to see. There were the mallard family and the wood duck family.
It was really a children's book background and scene today.
And just over the hill the clouds were parting and the views were opening up. I saw a single female turkey hanging around like she was a robin.

I saw a lot of mourning doves and a bunch of goldfinch. I think birds were happy today.
Everything is green. 4 days of rain kind of does that. I'm not complaining, I love it and I love the lilies and the roses.
Oh, you have no idea how sweet an act lending me the car is. Just the ability to take myself to a place to shoot the sunset makes all the difference in the world. It gives me access to that independence that I am so afraid of loosing.
