Day 186
July 5, 2021
The red winged blackbirds have never tried to chase me away until today.  She was definitely trying to feed her kids and I must have been getting too close.  Both parents yelled at me until I went back to my car.

In my borrowed Volvo I went on my ride today.  It was quite pleasant, at the rookery it was 64 and cloudy.  The sun tried to come out all afternoon, and at times succeeded.  I felt like I was driving in my private limo.

The past few days of rain not only increased the water level, but it was cleaner.  I could hear frogs and I know they were jumping into the water just before I reached them, but I never saw one.

But I did see this snail.

Have the fireworks started?  I think I can hear them, but I can't see anything.  Seems to be the story of my life these days.

I'm  doing a workshop on Oral Histories on Wednesday.  I first learned about Oral Histories when my great uncle Lou Bouche was interviewed by the Smithsonian Oral History Project which documents interviews with and about artists.  He was living on Hudson then and I just remember the adult chatter about how cool it was.  Many years later I looked it up and read it and learned all this stuff about my family I hadn't registered before.  It was really interesting.  By then I had participated in several in the world of literacy.  Doing Oral Histories is a wonderful teaching tool.
