Day 195
July 14, 2021
Happy Birthday Loren and
Happy Bastille Day

I went to the rookery at 930 this morning.  It was 69 and rainy with 97% humidity.  It was a completely new space and experience.  5 heron flew into the rookery together followed by a large group of, I believe, starlings.  There were a lot of ducks around and a group of smaller birds took over the tall dead tree.

I saw no four footed anything.  A pair of mourning doves walked the length of road all the way to my car, rambling in the middle of the road at a fairly decent clip.  There were a few goldfinch around and several swallows.

I spent an hour there writing.  Very nice way to start my morning.

I still have not seen a lot of dragon flies or butterflies.  There's some milkweed on the side of the road; most of the June wildflowers are gone and nothing has taken their place.  The rain has beaten the grasses down, but the cattails have grown really tall and strong.
Alas, it was a very stormy work day.  I have to tell you the weather has not helped our attendance on Wednesdays at all.  We have produced several really good workshops that not enough people have attended.  Soon you'll be  able to experience them on the website.  www.echogreenfield.org.

and to end the evening a productive conversation with the artist.
