Day 196
July 15, 2021
Thursdays are good days
I did some exploring today even though it was a little hot, but it was sunny and the sky was blue.
I had made arrangements with my friend Richie to help him do a book signing and ice cream social at a local restaurant. It's been a long time since I put myself in that kind of social situation. I don't know why it was different than doing a Saturday Salon, maybe because it was slightly more intimate.
Not a lot of people came, but the ones who did bought books and ate ice cream and listened to Richie read. We ended out just sitting around 2 picnic tables and getting to know the people who did stop. There were a few kids who managed to all play together and get on well. There was a 3 year old who looked like he was almost 5, but his language wasn't there yet. He was trying so hard to communicate what was going on in his head. 2 10 year old twin girls were trying really hard to understand. It was a really positive experience to watch. The first egret of the summer showed at the canal today, but I didn't see any other birds. It was empty. Very odd.
But the rookery at 4"30 was 89 and no breeze but active herons and active ducks.
There maybe a new spirit in my front maple.
