Day 213

A day of solitude

Definitely was a day of rest for me.  I ate my lunch at Highland Pond and watched out for the heron, but did not see him.

Many wildflowers were in bloom around the edge of the pond and I'm afraid the algae is way too thick. I did not see a turtle, and I did see more mosquitoes than dragon flies.

But it really is lush and I enjoyed sounds.  There was a hawk calling that was not a red tailed.  I'm going to look up the kestrel call, it might have been a kestrel.

I drove up to Poets Seat and there were vultures and storm clouds.  I wasn't inspired to write up there though.

And the rookery was quiet.  It was 77 degrees up there.  I decided what I really needed was an ice cream sundae so I went to Friendly's and got one and ate it at GCC.  I watched a family give a 5 year old her first 2 wheeler lesson.  Every time she felt her father let go she stopped pedaling and looked back at him.  He'd catch her, but she couldn't resist.  The "just keep on pedaling" was not sticking.  Finally she sat on the ground and cried.  Her Mom just sat down with her.  She'll get it, but not today.
And I did not need the ice cream sundae.
