Day 234
August 22, 2021
No hurricane for us, but a lot of clean air blowing through

Went for a short ride just up to the rookery and downtown at noontime.  The brunt of the storm had not hit yet.  But as usual there were only ducks in the rookery in the rain.  The yellows and the oranges have taken over and the cattails and grasses are beginning to turn brown.  That was quick.

Last year I wrote something about mourning for the rookery right after vince passed away.  I felt that same feeling there this morning.  But as the tropical storm began to blow in, I felt a cleansing happening that I haven't felt in a while.

The animals were all tucked neatly in the barn.  Not even barn swallows or goldfinch appeared.
Once the wind did pick up it was so refreshing and I tried to get some pictures of the blowing, but wasn't terribly successful, just happy to be standing outside and breathing deep.

Even though Henri did not prove to be the problem we thought it might be, it did act as a reason for a kind of snow day.  My friends all read and slept and stayed in their pajamas.  It was a true day of rest for some of us.
