Day 235
August 23, 2021
The rain came today

The minute the weathermen were telling me to stay away from the rivers I headed for them.  Today the rain came and roads were flooding and to take a picture one had to get wet.

Yet, I saw more big birds today than I've seen in weeks.  I saw a red tailed, 3 herons, and an eagle.   I saw a lot of ducks, but the egrets were hiding and the Connecticut was void of them.  They had taken shelter.

It stayed about 70 all day.  There was a tree down at Highland and one heron and no turtles.

Look how shallow the pond is under all that algae.  Can't be good for the heron's eating behaviour.  I mean the fish that are in the pond can't swim up here,
I tried to write some poetry today, thought my sad persona might be creative.  It worked a little bit, but basically I wanted to bake.  The weather discouraged me from the idea of ice cream, and in the end I made a vegetable dinner and drank plenty of seltzer.  It's not making me happy, but at least its not making things worse.

The canal looked like it was being emptied, but I think they must have opened all the dams because of the storm.  There was no water coming off the big bridge and the debris that had accumulated just before the falls was pretty impressive.
I'm afraid my internal self is as grey as the external world today.
