Day 240

A resident heron in the rookery

At 9:30 this morning it was 68 degrees in the rookery and cloudy.  It looks as though we now have a resident heron in the rookery.  Yesterday I thought it was a female adolescent.  Today I am not sure.  I'm going to compare him with the one that showed up first in March.

My usual haunts are over taken by the Green River Festival. The cemeteries are roped off and most of the surrounding roads are filled with parked cars and traffic.  But I did get to ride to the orchard which was lovely in a dark grey sky.  The apples are just turning red.  The trees are heavy with them.

At work Cathe did a painting workshop with kids.  I think we should do more of them.  A couple of adults joined her.  But the kids have such a good time experimenting with art.  I want to do another pop up art table in the market in September.

I could only hear the drums and the bass from my driveway.  I really wanted to be able to hear Valerie June and Jon Baptiste is playing now.  But I don't want to be with 4000 people.

EJ returned to Bard today.  I already miss them.
