Day 290
October 17, 2021
A day for a daydream
The light was fun today, kept popping out and lighting stuff up.
I was trying to write a narrative after listening to The Weight by The Band. It evokes many memories. The first time I heard it in 1968 was in early August in Berkeley, Ca. where I was taking care of my nephew, Jason, while my brother, Mike worked. Jace and I were captive in the house on Rose and Olive, I believe, and what we had was a radio. I was 15 and for the first time in my life I had control over the music. It was the summer of Janis Joplin, Jimi, The Band, Fairport Convention and tons of others, and I could listen to it all.I'm not sure at 3 Jason was too interested, but music has always been his big love, so who knows. I must have let him watch Sesame Street and other things such as playing with creepy crawly spiders out of a tall saltine box.
We went to a rock concert at Muir Woods which was a disaster, but in that house in Berkeley the music was great.
I both love and hate Sundays. I usually feel sick because I've over done it on Saturday, but on the other hand I give myself permission to be gentle.
It's getting cold now. The weather is finally shifting. Tomorrow I will bring paperwork to the Y and begin to swim this week. I promise. My refrigerator is filled with vegetarian food. It's quite unlike me, but it's kind of impressive.
This week ends and a new one begins, and I get to start over once more.
