Day 291
October 18, 2021
Off on her own away from the herd

My maple lost all her leaves in the wind yesterday.  I was shocked at how naked she was when I walked to get the mail this morning.  All those birds that were hidden so well all summer are gone.

There is almost no red left.  This one bright spot of it at the rookery was lit up this afternoon.  But most of the maples are bare.

And what is left is an array of umber and yellow, lonely colors.  By evening as the sun was setting there were dark clouds and the colors were dark and heavy.

I'd like to drive into those mountains and go take pictures in the blueberry groves.

The cold nights are here and the temperatures are back to being seasonal.

I haven't photographed the Deerfield yet this fall.  It looks like there's a wave in the river.  There's a lot of green left.  I'm not sure what the altitude difference is.

My day was not very energetic or productive.  I did get my membership completed.

I think I will start listing what I am grateful for again because I can feel the depression sneaking in.

I am grateful for

healthy food

good friends

that the house is still mine

Pumpkins, not sure why, but I am

And friends who laugh.
