Day 292
October 19, 2021
How do you describe a full heart?

Pumpkin Orange

 is what color she wore

at a dance in September,

her tan not faded yet.

Is the color of the soup

they shared

catching up on friendship.

Is the blanket her

Mother bought her

last Christmas,

corduroy and down,

The background of the

rug she first made love on.

The walls of her bedroom at school

A car she almost bought

one springtime, but decided

to ride the train instead.

Not quite the color of the late

summer hills in Marin

where she knew she

must stay and didn’t.

The earring she wore

in honor of her friend.

My heart filled way up today and wouldn't release while I sat in this beauty.   My heart cried out in gratefulness for all the bounty that I have been handed.  My heart screamed,  oh how it wanted me to place my armor on to protect it from the encroaching pain.  I could not. I reached for safety, but it was just slightly too far away.    My heart is full.

Sometime today I realized I couldn't resist my magic any longer, that I had to dive into it, embrace it.  YUP.

Three smart, poignant beautiful poets, whom I love listening to.  Thank you.
