Day 56

I stand against war

Feb. 25, 2021

I took this picture a year ago at the bird rehabilitation center in Woodstock, Vt. with Ember and Karen.  It actually snowed big time the following day.  I guess late February storms are pretty common; they're common between now and the Ides of March.

For the first time in a while it looks and feels like real winter out there  We got about 8 inches of snow today. People wee snow blowing and shoveling and plowing.  I didn't move out of the house.  I didn't take a ride, I didn't take a picture, I did work on the play, I did not write a poem,  I did do some laundry and some dishes.  But mainly, I did nothing but read and I tried desperately to remember 1973.

Dec. 17, 1973:  Paul and Molly's apartment

One thing I do remember is the ice storm.  It was almost 1 year exactly after my daughter's birth.  I had 6 fish tanks in my room including a developed salt water tank.  I lost all but my goldfish, Goldie who I got for my 14th b'day.  He wasn't dependent on electricity.  We put his bowl near fire, not too near.  That was almost a week of no power.

After that Christmas I went on a trip to Wyoming and California.  That I have photos of.  I spent that New Year's Eve in Laramie.

It was definitely the post trauma year.  I remember much more about 1972 while living the traumas.  Interesting.  I would love to go back to school and do another degree in trauma and learning.  It would be fascinating.

Looking out my window at snow falling heavily for the first time in weeks and watching the neighbor dog loving it.  He was jumping all over the place.  So here's hoping tomorrow's weather allows for some interesting bird pictures.
