Day 57
February 26, 2022
A beautiful day for a short ride

Oh, a real day with a real drive and birds, a chance to list birds.  It was cold at the rookery, 24, but very sunny.  The sun felt good on my face.  I didn't have money for gas this morning so I just drove up the hill and back again and took pictures like the old days.

There are seven nests still waiting for the return of the herons.  Nest #9 was on a tree the lost the top 6 feet of it. There are fallen trees at the bottom.

I saw a ghost there.  Or was it a wave of snow blown from the trunks of dead trees?

There were 15 - 20 gold finch. I saw several Junco and I heard cardinals, but again did not see them.

I'm looking for an owl.  I want to photograph an owl.

I love this tree.  The land owners used to have a bird feeder right behind it, but they didn't put it out this year.  My guess is the feeders are on the other side of the house.  But the birds do like sitting in this one.

There were a few crows around.  This one was not spooked by my camera.  I do think they get worried when I have the 300 on.

Plenty of new cones to eat. Plenty of blue sky.

And the fox went out on the town last night.

Ember, do you remember when the opossum got stuck in the back entryway on Federal St.  The dogs went wild and you and I were trying to figure out how to free him without getting bit?

How lovely the simple things are?
