Day 88

The eagle has landed

The rookery at 4 in the afternoon was cold.  It was very cold today.  I got out of the car to watch the eagle and be with Sherry and James and I forgot what month it was.

The eagle searched all of the heron nests and the heron did not respond, they all stayed down on the edge of the pond so it doesn't look like any eggs have been laid yet.  We thought maybe it wasn't warm enough

There certainly a lot of coupling going on.  We saw at least 5 different kinds of ducks floating around in pairs.  There were a few wood duck couples over on the swampy side and 3 herons hanging near and the red tailed above them.  

The neighborhood red tailed was over by the farm.  I got some pics of him.

This is an adolescent bald eagle.  He was being pretty gutsy and the herons were not agitated.

These are my co bird spies.  We have such fun, but we all were way too cold to last long.  

We have to write a story about this one.  I swear he interacts with me.
