Day 87
March 28, 2022
Jasper

photo by Paul: Boxwood Gardens, Marqueyssac, France.

It was 26 degrees and cloudy in the rookery this afternoon. I'm so glad I went up.  There were only 2 herons visible and they both came quite near actually wading in front of the muskrat houses.  It was like photographing EJ when we are doing it on purpose.

I named the first guy Jasper.  They were both males.  The couple that has been in the same nest for 3 days were not there today.

Jasper's friend.  Don't know his name, yet.

The rookery was filled with ducks, lot of different kinds of ducks.  I'm going to get the book out tonight and identify them all.

Leaving the rookery, there were deer on a hillside.  One was further back and when I first saw it I thought maybe it was a young moose, but it was a yearling.  It was darker than the others.
And around the corner, far off on the edge of a field, 3 hawk were fighting over something.  None of my photos are clear, they are too far away.  But they are definitely not playing nice.

Very lovely little pool of water that is brimming with life on this very cold day.

Fritz got tulips and baby's breath for the flowers in the play and I got to bring them home.
