Day 101
April 11, 2022
A day for birds.

I have to go back and read my notes from 2020.  That year there were 7 nests completely active with many eggs hatched and babies fledged.

Last year they built 2 more nests and abandoned the last 4 before the babies were documented as having fledged.  There was a heavy couple of days of rain.

During the winter 2 of the nests were toppled, leaving this year's community with 7 nests.  Since then 2 have been taken down and only 5 nests have been filled.

One of the nests that was removed was the one I photographed the eagle hanging out in.  Is it possible that the eagle ate eggs?  We didn't think any had been laid yet, but the nest is gone.

On the other hand, ducks are more abundant than in the past 2 years.  There are many pairs of many different types of ducks.

It was 61 up there today and the sun was lovely.  The majority of the activity was duck related.  Although there was a big woodpecker somewhere near.  Never found him.
