Day 111
April 21, 2022
Happy Birthday, Denise!!
I think all of the wild life looks prehistoric in the rookery.
I went up to the rookery early today and hung out for about an hour and a half. It was about 54 and sunny and very breezy. There was a lot of activity down in front by the road and a chainsaw somewhere near. The woodpecker was hammering away and an otter was having quite the great play.
But it was the turtles who providing the most interesting modeling of the morning.
And this red tailed completely ignored me as he debated how to catch some swallows. Luckily I did not have to witness any success. I did, however, look up swallow predators on Google and he was there near the top of the list.
Do otters eat duck eggs? He was eating something on the other shore, couldn't tell what it was, but I know the hooded mergansers and the mallards have been swimming in and out of the same place.
Opened up by 5 today, very few people came in, but we, as staff, did our own art. It's been a while since I've done a collage. Al and I both cut up photos and words. I'm not terribly talented at it, but sure felt good to do it..
