Day 119
April 29, 2022
It's my Annie's birthday today.  Happy Birthday !

My bird list would be very long  today.  It started with a cardinal and a sparrow, or a brown bird, I was told.  And later everything from geese to eagles.

I watched a hawk chased by red winged black birds and both vultures and a bald eagle soar.  I watched heron pass each other at the nest level and a phoebe came to say hello.

The horses are out in the pasture and the fields are green in spite of the chilly winds that are blowing down trees.

I took my first ride in a week because I had enough money to buy enough gas, even though the cost of gas went up 17 cents a gallon over night.

In the middle of the ride I watched this beaver take down a small tree and carry it over to his dam.  I'm not sure how long he will be allowed to carry on his engineering, he maybe too close to a dip in the road and his work may cause to much havoc.  We'll follow his progress through May.
I researched beaver, muskrat and otter today to make sure I was identifying these three critters properly and I am.

Beaver is a herbivore, muskrat lives on roots and plant growth and maybe turtle, and otters eat fish.  I was looking this up because it started to feel as though there was a lot of competition for food in the rookery. These three rodents do not compete for their diets so they can co-exist in the wetland.
