Day 163

The abandoned swing
Happy Birthday, Mr. Mallary

After yesterday's feast of people, today I chose birds.  It was lovely.  I was very tired today.  It always surprises me when I am exhausted after a really good day, but my joints don't seem to care whether the day was wonderful or horrific.  They are just beaten down.  Oh well, I still had a good day.

And I saw tons of birds, they seem to be very active today.  There was one heron in the Canal for the first time this year.  I think she's young and certainly wasn't worried about modeling for me.  How old are heron when they have their first batch of babies?

Went to Uppingill.  I loved my commute to the Gill Elementary School.  I drove Main Rd. from 1978-1983.  It's a tiny bit more grown, but not that much.  There is a restaurant in the center instead of a tiny store.

And at the rookery it was cloudy and the storm was beginning to come through, but the birds, frogs and turtles were happy.

I think this will be the first nest to fledge and I think it will happen soon.  Eggs must have been laid earlier than I thought.  These guys are getting ready to leave home.

The storm has not blown through yet, 2 hours after these photos were taken.  It may have stayed west of the big river and the highway.

Little more rain would be a good thing.  Plus the air pressure needs to change soon.
