Day 178
June 27, 2022
Doug and Jan's raspberries.

When I first got to the rookery today it was kind of spooky.   There had been a fairly decent rainfall for a couple hours and the clouds were clearing out. it was 73.  It looked as though there were no herons in any of the nests, that they had all been abandoned.  There were no adult herons anywhere.
There were plenty of frogs, and they were happy, the rain had freshened their world.  I saw one or two swallows and heard a few red wings, and I actually photographed some kingbirds together.  But there were no herons.

The third baby goose is developing a black head and a few teal ducks flew into that back wetland.  I saw a baby wood duck, but no heron
By the time I left the two juveniles in nest 10 who I thought had left started chatting away and standing tall.  One other nest had younger babies in it, but I saw no adults at all.  I was going to go back up around  7, but I got involved in something else.

These last few photos are from my backyard.  It's really happy back there and the ripe raspberries were sweet.  Jan's bushes were further along than mine, I think they get more sun.
