Day 285
October 12, 2022
I am entangled by a spiritual and an ethical decision

I went to hang out by the Connecticut this afternoon.  I had gone to the canal in search of the heron or an eagle, but found neither.  I watched the geese for a while and enjoyed the feel of the wind coming in.  Then I went searching for other birds by Unity Park.  I parked and was going to sit and write for a time and was overtaken by the smell of cigarette smoke.  I looked up and out my side window and saw a big black animal head.

It confused me at first, I thought someone had left their dog in their truck without any windows open and that the dog was dying, his eyes wide open, his mouth wide open and tongue hanging out.  Then I realized he was dead.  I went to take his picture to show to the police and realized it was a bear, a large black bear dead in a truck.  I was stunned.  I moved my car and Googled Massachusetts bear hunting season.  It is not legal to have killed a bear today in Massachusetts.
Should I report it?
