Day 296
October 23, 2022
We had a successful gathering for Vince

It was a special morning.  We thought about having a séance, or a religious ceremony, or a poetry circle; we combined them all.  About 18 friends of Vince's came together and shared stories, shared feelings, shared growth, and the loneliness that COVID forced upon us and the loss our good friend's passing caused.  Stories were tender, they were funny, and they demonstrated the impact this man's last 20 years had upon our community.  He was an important member and it was time for people to claim the loss.

His words were there for us to hear, many of us brought haiku he had given to us.  Statements of a singular moment placed on a file card and handed to a friend, this was what he left us all with daily.

I took a nap afterwards and then I went for a ride and a write.  It was not that cold, 57, but it was very grey and still.  There were only ducks in the rookery today.  I think they're in their winter home now.

I drove slowly through the woods on the dirt road in search of what I thought was an owl's nest, but I didn't see it.  Many of the trees are bare and you can see through them to the swamp.
The colors were subdued, but incredibly beautiful.  The veil is thin and the spirits are beginning to slide in and out again.  We have entered Scorpio according to Amie, I swear it is a vulnerable time for me, but one I look forward to.
