Day 298
October 25, 2022
today was a remarkable bird day
It started with my being greeted by this cardinal pair at the Y in the rain. I felt it was a reward for making it there this morning.
What a beautiful day, almost 70 degrees and full of mist and colors a new. The canal was filled with subtle purples and bright burgundy and burnt orange.
There was the broad winged hawk and the GBH.
Look at the colors in his neck and head. I thought at first he was a young one, but I think he was at least a couple of years old.
He flew across the canal a couple of times and I did get some flight photos. I love the marbled foliage reflections though. I took almost 300 photos today.
And the goats were close enough to interact with me, too. They are so cute. Look at that sweet face. Their parents were around, too, and because it was warmer than usual they were not all crowded by the barn.
And what was left at the rookery at 5 this afternoon was a group of about 6 wood ducks. The males have their colors now. All of that white striping interacting with tree reflections was pretty psychedelic.
