Day 304
October 31, 2022
Happy Halloween
This morning a cardinal pair greeted me in the driveway. On the spruce was a Northern Flicker, Red Headed woodpecker and a very large Blue Jay vieing for something on a branch. Then the woodpecker came down onto the garage. None of my photos came out, they were all taken through the windshield in bright sun. But I got to witness it and feel good about it.
I've been taking pictures outside the Coop on Halloween since 2009, I believe. But after looking back on the last 3 blog years, I realized we've missed a lot of town Halloweens. Last year I drove with Di to bring EJ to Bard so they could do Halloween with friends. And I slept through 2010's festivities.
Well, today I did it, and I had fun. All those kids are all grown up, but new ones are out there. And many of the parents dressed up today. We had fun.
Coop staff put on a time and Hilary photographed it, so I photographed her. We're going to combine our pictures.
Annie dressed as a graduating senior.
Sebastian is 9, holy cow.
A family portrait, 3 generations of Henrys; I think the year we started The Literacy Project, Halloween of 1984, a bunch of us including Jim Henry and me dressed up and went to Biffs to play pool. Oh that was a long time ago and at least 2 generations ago.
I had fun doing this tonight, I hope I don't get sick, although I did have a mask on most of the time. Welcome to the end of this cycle, I am once again grateful for November, the most poignant month of the year, the pink month.
