Day 353
December 19, 2022
Came around a corner and at least 25 turkeys were in the road.

I went to 3 bodies of water today, 4 if you count the pool.  I went to Leverett Lake, The canal and the rookery.  Clouds didn't really disperse until sunset when I was at the rookery.  And everything was still.

Mergansers Rule

I love trying to follow them.  Today there was a pair of hooded mergansers and several common.  The water was cold looking in the canal but not frozen.  It is duck paradise for sure.

The rookery was in 32 degree air and was snowed over with no signs of birds at all.   Apparently there are otters in the lake, but none in the rookery any longer.  Can one get from Shelburne to Leverett by water if one is an otter?

So I hung out a bit at the rookery and then decided to drive home up over the hill. That's when I saw the 25 turkey in the middle of the road.  When they realized I really had to get by them, they took to the air, they flew, really, they did.  They flew into the woods.

Had dinner with Denise in the center of town.  It was very festive when we came out onto the common.  I do love my town.  And I love days full of my friends.  Today was full of water and conversation with good friends.
